• Who are we?

'Teach English, Volunteer!' is a project managed by the provincial direction of hispanic education of Chimborazo (Ecuador) which is like the provincial Ministry of Education for the Chimborazo province.

• Why this project?

Ten years ago, the Ecuadorian governement decided that English would be taught from the primary school, but there is a huge lack of English teachers in Ecuador.

The aim of this project is to welcome volunteer English teachers from abroad in the Chimborazo province (Ecuador).

• Do we charge something?

1. No fees to volunteer with us.
2. Food/Accomodation is provided by a local family.
3. The volunteer only has to cover his own costs for travel, vaccines, insurance, VISA etc.

The living conditions are not those that we can know in North America or in Europe. You may not have always warm water or even water and hygiene is something really different. You will live like the local people.

• Who are we looking for?

1. People that can speak English.
2. People that have at least a basic knowledge of Spanish.
3. People that can stay at least 6 months between September and June.
4. Ideally, people that have experiences in teaching or working with children. Even better if you have an ESL/TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) diploma.

However, you may apply even if you do not fit all these criteria.
